Notes from React Nexus 2026 - Day 1

A messy scratchpad of notes, half-formed thoughts, hot takes, and session highlights during React Nexus 2026 in Bangalore.

The Anatomy of PostgreSQL RLS

Four PostgreSQL concepts — RLS execution boundaries, function security modes, planner inlining, and permission-dependent SQL — traced through the lens of a single 42501 error.

Fast, Slow, and Slightly Outsourced

An exploration of Tri-System Theory and the subtle line between 'cognitive offloading' and 'cognitive surrender'; with some personal guardrails I’m building to stop my own engineering brain from atrophying.

Where Trust Comes From: Engineering with Agentic Skills

I used my GitHub heatmap refactor as a proving ground for a stricter agentic rhythm—moving from Research-Plan-Implement to a workflow that demands questions, structure, and evidence over vibes.

The Workflow I Kept Postponing Was the Point

The embarrassing realization that the engineering discipline I kept treating as overhead was the actual work. A post-mortem on repeated failures, the skill gaps behind them, and what a real operating model looks like when the workflow finally has to contain wisdom.

Observe, Don't Assume

A GitHub Action, a Telegram notification, and seven invisible ways the system failed without telling me. The bugs weren't technical. They were in my assumptions.

Tools vs Agents: What Gets Lost When You Stop Reaching

Static analysis is O(V+E). Agentic workflows are O(I-have-no-idea). What happened when I installed Knip, handed it to an agent, and stopped thinking about input sets.

How Not To Ask An Agent For A Fix

I did eventually get the stale homepage issue sorted. The more interesting part was how much conversational wandering it took to get there, and what that taught me about using gpt-5.4 for design thinking instead of just code generation.

The Bug Was In The Conversation

When agents write the code, the bugs hide in the conversation. A look at the three most common ways agentic workflows fail: scope leaks, contract leaks, and finish-line leak

Why I Added a Sitemap to a Site That Barely Deserves One

This site is not exactly a sprawling digital empire, which made the sitemap question more interesting, not less. Building one forced me to think about machine legibility, crawl semantics, and the strange dignity of an XML file quietly explaining the shape of a website.
